📜 Heirs Property
When an owner dies without a will, the house usually passes to all heirs together. Alabama’s Uniform Partition of Heirs Property Act (Act 2014-299, Code of Alabama §§ 35-6A-1 to 35-6A-14) adds protections for family members if a co-owner seeks a forced sale; it applies to cases filed on or after January 1, 2015. Talk to a lawyer before signing anything.
